I have battled my weight all of my adult life. From the time I was in high school until about 2010 I was overweight, at times weighing in well over 300lbs. I never really lost a significant amount of weight until sometime after 2000 when I got down to about 240lbs. Then I met my wife and over the course of about 5 or 6 years ended up back around 300lbs.
The real change came in 2009 when I had my first son. In the spring of 2010 I came to the realization that I had to lose weight so I could participate in his life – play on playgrounds, coach sports teams and generally just keep up.
I started with running. My first workout in a “couch to 5k” program I found was 30 seconds of running, 10 minutes of walking, 30 seconds of running. I couldn’t run for 30 seconds. Fast forward nearly a year and while my running was improving it was boring. A friend introduced me to CrossFit.
In my first CrossFit workout I couldn’t jump on a 12 inch box. I fell in love immediately. I found my way to CrossFit LoDo and was enamored. I remember not being able to snatch a barbell. My first recorded deadlift max was 185lbs. Fast forward to now and safe to say I’ve improved my fitness.
I hover around 200lbs and continue to CrossFit daily. If you want ot lose weight, please ask me, I would love to help. I’ve tried everything from Weight Watchers to Paleo to keto.
Me with m first son CJ in December of 2009. And me with my youngest son Dawson in 2021
